Making Local Living Green!

Happy 2012!

Happy New Year everyone!

I can't believe we are half way through January already and with so many projects to plan out for 2012, time seems more and more precious. We at RGL, (Lindsay & I) have been discussing what possible direction(s) to go this year, with whom and when...talks are still ongoing but for now I think we both agree to keep the RGL site up as a continued resource for natural building, local sustainable business and low imact living. As for the meetups, I would recommend utilizing the lovely Romeo ladies and their exceptional organization of Rochester Green Drinks.  I do plan on hosting at least one or two natural building workshops this year and will be announcing them next month....im thinking cob oven, cordwood outhouse and/or cordwood guesthouse. If you have any ideas or think you would like to host a natural building event please contacts us! I do plan to keep adding people to the directory and try to keep up with local eco-related events on our calendar. More information will be posted over the next few weeks. Thank you all for your interest, support and knowledge over the past 5 years!

PS - Here is some new pics of the cordwood guesthouse; bed is finished and the fire keeps the place very toasty in the few 5 degree days we had here in WNY. Everything is holding up very nicely including the earthroof.

Hello all,

Thank you to ALL of the 60+ people who came out for last week's Green Drinks event at my home! It was great to see the excitement of people walking on the green roof and seeing cordwood construction for the first time. The food, drinks & music (Serge & Friends rocked till 9pm!) were all fantastic and a great collaboration of so may of you (you know who you are) who made the event possible. I'm confident many new connections were made and potential projects in the works as a result. If any of you have some pics of the event I would love to post This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

I will be posting a new event for October this weekend so keep checking back!

About Us

Our goal is to help lower the environmental impact of the homes and lives of those living in the greater Rochester area. To reach that goal we provide workshops in sustainability, promote local green events, provide a free local resource in sustainable information, and create connections to other green organizations throughout New York. We hope we will be the first stop on your journey to a deeper understanding of sustainability.
