Happy Fall everyone!

I have some great news to announce! In fall 2010, I helped plaster a 3,000 sq ft strawbale barn at Singer Farm Naturals in Appleton, NY (see pics below).  It was an amazing experience to see how they have incorporated solar power, recycled matierials, strawbale construction and a number of other sustainable features to thier thriving farm business. Tom remembered I was a cordwood guy and two years later asked if I could run a workshop to build a cordwood knee wall and bench at the front entrance of their barn (which so happens to be amazing inside!). Long story short...THIS Sunday, Oct 21st, 2012 from 12-3ish @ 6730 Lake Road, Appleton, NY 14008... I will be doing a FREE cordwood 101 presentation & slide show followed by hands-on cordwood building instruction. My appologies for the short notice but the opportunity arose and I love building with cordwood! This event is also posted on our facebook page as well.

In fall 2010, I helped plaster a 3,000 sq ft strawbale barn at Singer Farm Naturals in Appleton, NY (right on Lake Ontario).  It was an amazing experience to see how they have incorporated solar power, recycled matierials, strawbale construction and a number of other sustainable features to thier thriving business. My appologies for the less than 3 weeks away part but the opportunity arose and I love building with cordwood! I will be adding more details in the next few days including any costs. I will be posting this event on our facebook page as well.

August Meetup

E-mail Print

Hello all,

On the table for this month and good friend of Rochester Green Living, Patti Love will be hosting a Permaculture event:

Date: Thursday, August 16, 2012

 Time: 6:00 - 7:30 pm, Tour and Q & A

Where: Rochester Permaculture Center and Edible Forest Garden Tour, 163 Helen Road, Rochester, NY 14623

Come for a tour of and tasting from the newly established Edible Forest Garden at the Rochester Permaculture Center (RPC). Permaculture is a design system that creates the harmonious integration of people and landscape –providing their food, energy, shelter, material, and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Come see which Permaculture related projects are completed and which are still in progress. Tour and Q&A facilitated by Patty Love, permaculture designer, educator, and consultant, Program Director of Rochester Permaculture Center, and owner of Barefoot Edible Landscape and Permaculture. RPC is a program of Seeking Common Ground, Inc., dedicated to exploring, modeling, and inspiring more conscious, sustainable, and restorative ways of life through the application of permaculture and other regenerative design techniques and principles.

About Us

Our goal is to help lower the environmental impact of the homes and lives of those living in the greater Rochester area. To reach that goal we provide workshops in sustainability, promote local green events, provide a free local resource in sustainable information, and create connections to other green organizations throughout New York. We hope we will be the first stop on your journey to a deeper understanding of sustainability.
